Oh boy! This week is an exciting one in the garden! We finally got every single planter bed in the ground! No more planter beds will be built. This is it. Phew! It was so much work. We started back on December 31, and have been working every weekend since. There is still a ton left to do before we can plant everything but it feels so much closer. It is a lot of fun to look at it and see everything the way it should be instead of this bed sticking up funny or a blank spot where there will be a bed. It has come a long way since February 20th’s post where I looked at the outline.
I planted a few seeds in the greenhouse last Friday and some of them are finally coming up! It made my day to see those little baby plants. I also got some onions in the only cold frame with a top. They are pretty happy to be in the ground and I’m gonna be very happy to eat them later in the year. I can’t wait to finish off these beds (fill with dirt, irrigation system, more drainage systems, grass between the beds, lids for the cold frames, hoop tunnels for the beds) and plant them! It looks like it is supposed to rain this weekend, so we may not get much done, but it is less than two weeks until spring break and then if I’m very lucky we will get the majority of the garden work done!
And if you look really closely you will notice that the ditch moved about a foot or two to the right. It is so much nicer now. There is space to walk around the garden and the ditch is flowing really well when it rains.
