Visiting Washington

It has been forever since Ryan and I were last out in Washington state (where he is from.)  But we finally got a week off and traveled out there.  We crammed the week full of so much fun, visiting the sights and friends and family.  We are both tired and rather sun burnt (from the beach and time above tree line) but it was wonderful and we can’t wait to do it again!  Here are some of my favorite photos from the trip.  It’s only a small portion of them, but I just couldn’t post everything!

We started by visiting family in Olympia, WA.  Ryan took me to the sound one afternoon and I got to see some seals.

The next day we had a huge party for family and friends and I got to meet some of Ryan’s high school friends.  They are really cool people and I wish we lived closer.

Then we drove down the coast toward Oregon and made a quick stop at Cape Disappointment.  Though I don’t know what it is called that…

Then we made it down to Cannon Beach!  I loved it there.  Between the fog and the sun and the different tides it always looked different.  Also the tidal pools were awesome!  I love tidal pools.

Then we headed out to the Columbia River Gorge to see the waterfalls.

And we decided last minute to take a detour to Mt. St. Helens on the way back to Olympia.  It was incredible.  I couldn’t believe the destruction.  Amazing.

Then we spent a day hiking Mt. Rainier with Ryan’s family.  It was beautiful, and awesome and terrifying (with all those tiny slippery trails on the edge of cliffs! No. My photos to not accurately show that part, I was too busy trying not to fall.)  It was worth the terror though.  I think I’m gonna have to get used to hiking like that.  Though I’ll have to go back west to practice since I don’t think we make mountains like that on the east coast.

And then we spent the last day in Seattle before boarding the plane home.  It was a crazy busy but awesome trip!
