Easter Eggs

There has been a wonderful new addition to our yard!  That’s right… chickens!  To say I’m excited is a bit of an understatement.  I’m thrilled to finally have chickens!  I’ve wanted them ever since we moved here because they are so helpful.  Seriously!  #1. They eat bugs.  And weeds.  And we have a ton of bugs and weeds.  The gnats and mosquitos and ticks and stink bugs were just crazy last year.  I can’t wait to let my chickens eat them for me.  #2.  They will lay eggs!  Ryan’s favorite breakfast is eggs, and no matter what eggs I buy from the grocery store I really can’t be sure how well treated/fed those chickens were.  With mine I’ll know.  Also three of them are easter egger chickens so I might get some blue/green eggs!  It’s super exciting!  I can’t wait to share more with you through the year.  For now here is a photo of two of our chickens.  the one on the left is a Buff Orpington.  She will grow up to be a beige color and is so sweet natured.  She also needs a name if you have any suggestions!  The one on the right is one of my easter eggers.  I think she is adorable and looks like a chipmunk.  We named her Pip.  She is a good girl too, and very curious.
