Everyone on the east coast knows what I mean when I say my garden was under water yesterday. It seems like most of the state was under water. I know my neighborhood was. (Follow me on Instagram and you will see what I mean “leliamariephoto”) So I’m going to share a photo of my spring veggies from before the rain. There is a bunch of celery, cabbage, spinach, lettuce, broccoli and bok choy. Hopefully the rain didn’t hurt them. We will see in the next week as the water drains and things start to dry out. Stay tuned for updates… Also you’ll notice that after testing many different types of mulch last year I’ve settled on an organic compost. It’s called “leaf grow” at the garden center here, but basically it is just really good compost. It helps keep the weeds down a little and makes it easier to pull weeds as well as giving my plants a ton of nutrients. It beat out actual mulch because it is easier to plant in when I have to change from spring to summer veggies and it beat out straw because there are way too many seed left in the straw that sprout on you!
