In the photography community it’s popular to create a post showing off your favorite wedding photos from the previous year. I thought about doing that, but weddings are about more than just Pinterest details. So I decided to have a little more fun this year and create different categories and see who won. It was a lot of fun to put together. I hope you enjoy it!
Best Dress: There were a lot of beautiful wedding dresses this year but Ashley won it by a landslide! Her dress was so unique and it photographed beautifully, due to the fact that the layer under the dress wasn’t white so you could see the lace detail clearly! (Dress from Blush Bridal)
Best Bouquet: Another hard category. After all, all flowers are pretty. This bouquet by Buttercups Floral Design won for me because it was unexpected! I mean when was the last time you saw daffodils or hellebores in a bouquet?
Most Unexpected Guest: This sweet kitty who lived at the venue decided to attend Holly & Tom’s wedding at the Briar Patch.
Best Posing when it was Below Freezing: I didn’t photograph too much outside when it was below freezing, but we went outside for a few minutes during this shoot and it was below freezing even with the bright sunshine! Props to Laurie for being willing to smile and have a good time while freezing!
Best Gentleman: Smiling at his bride and holding her flowers? He’s a keeper!
You know you got your toast right when…
Best plates: Because look at them!!
Best Socks: I love it when the guys wear fun socks, and this photo of father and son was too cute to resist!
Most Pink: Oh so much pink! But in this case I love it!
Favorite Flower Field: Same spot (East Lynn Farm), two different events. There is nothing better than a flower field!
Youngest guest: I love seeing babies at weddings 🙂
Which cake is real? Two of these cakes are fake and two of them are real.
Prettiest Plan B: I had a few weddings his year that had to switch to “plan B” for the ceremony due to rain. I love the way Shelley’s Floral & Bluemont decorated the new ceremony set up. It still looked beautiful.
Sweetest Parent Moment: I love when I have enough time at a wedding to focus on the parents of the bride & groom. I had a lot of contenders for this one but I really loved this photos from Jessica & Kyle’s wedding. It was Kyle’s parents’ anniversary so Kyle & Jessica played the first dance song from his parents’ wedding and let them have their first dance all over again. So sweet!
Favorite 2nd photographer perspective: This was from a wedding I second shot. I love being able to capture different angles. Like this one.
Best Color Combo: I loved the colors on these bridesmaids dresses and their flowers! They were a bolder color than most people pick but they looked stunning and so beautiful against the green outdoors!
Sweetest getting ready: Johanna & Mark’s wedding was so classic and elegant. And her getting ready photos are all so sweet and lovely!
Best Cake Smash: The more cake on the face the better!
Cutest Flower Girl: When I went through all the photos of flower girls I almost decided not to pick. They were all adorable. However there is just something I love about this sweet little girl with her teddy bear in a tux.
Best Dress shot: I love this photo of Daphne’s dress.
Best behind the scenes photo: On the left is what I was taking a picture of. On the right is what was happening behind me. This happens more frequently than you might think. (It’s why my brides are always smiling!)
Best Father/Son Moment: I just love this photo so much. They are precious together. Kerry has such a beautiful family!
Best Dressed: I love it when guys wear nice, light suits for outdoor weddings. Normally I’m a huge fan of grey but these guys made this beige color look so cool and handsome.
Best Hair using only three bobby pins: Ok. There might be more than three bobby pins… but barely. I watched Jacquelyn of Enlightened Styles make this happen in about a minute. Stunning. And I love that hairpiece from Ann Leslie Designs.
Best Invitation: I love it when brides remember to bring a copy of their invitation to the wedding for me to photograph! So pretty!
Bravest Couple: Holly & Tom totally win this. They told me that, at their rehearsal, a snake fell out of that tree. And they still got married under the tree!!! Brave. 🙂
Most likely to rain in 3… 2… 1. And it did. A second after this photo was taken. Totally worth it.
Random National Geographic Moment: What are the chances I would get to photograph a Hummingbird Moth at a wedding? Well I did! How nice of it to pose for me!
Straight out of a fairy tale: That light, dress, veil, arch… all of it. Just feels like a fairytale. More of this please!
Best Walking to Reception photo: I love taking a picture of the Bride & Groom heading to their reception after we are done with photos. I love seeing them enjoy one last quiet minute before celebrating all night!
Thanks for making it though all those photos! There are so many more I wanted to share but I just couldn’t make this post a mile long! Maybe I should make a second post of photos from 2014… What do you think? 2014 was a wonderful year and I can’t wait for 2015!
