New Year – New Habits – Facebook
Last month we talked about how to get in the habit of Blogging! This month we are going to talk about how to use Facebook. To be fair you probably already know how to use it. It’s been around for a while and if you are like me you are already in the habit of using it. The problem is that Facebook is now limiting how much of your business content is seen by your fans. And frankly, as a user the newsfeed is getting a little irritating. So here are my suggestions on how to be effective with your time on Facebook.
- Schedule your posts. If you use a business page you have the ability to schedule your posts. Write a bunch at once, schedule them and then be done!
- Have other social media accounts push content onto Facebook. It used to be that Facebook was the primary platform and the fastest way to get info out was to post on Facebook and have Facebook post that info on other accounts (such as twitter) but with the way Facebook is heading I’d suggest learning to use Twitter and Instagram and have them post your content on Facebook.
- Make use of Facebook “lists”. Sadly this only works in your personal account, not on your business page, but its a huge time saver. On the left sidebar see the header reading “friends” click on it and you can create lists of people. I’d highly suggest making a few different lists of people whose updates you want to see and interact with. That way when you are on Facebook you can bypass the timeline entirely and click on your lists. They will only show you content from the people on that list!
- Have a purpose when you get on Facebook. Don’t just kill time scrolling. You won’t accomplish anything! Limit your time on it and use all that extra time to get work done!
