Well the garden is still under snow… and it’s snowing again right now. Which means I don’t have anything to update there. So I thought I’d share an update on my chickens! I think it’s been a while since I shared them on the blog.
Yes, they are all doing fine! The cold weather doesn’t bother them since they have nice fluffy feathers. When it got really really cold (single digits) they preferred to stay warm in the coop, but when it’s just normal freezing cold they are out and about doing all chicken things. However, they hate the snow! They refuse to go out in it. They yell at me every time I go check on them that they want out, but if I open the door, they refuse to step foot on the white stuff. It’s kinda funny. I’m ready for the snow to melt so they can come back out and eat the weeds and bugs! They have been laying a ton of eggs, after a short break, from the end of November to January, and I must say having fresh eggs is still one of the best things ever!
Here are some photos of them that I took earlier this winter. Yes, I put scarfs on my chickens (just for the photos.) No, none of them would wear the Santa hat for me. (From left to right: Pip, Rue & Lady)
